My PhD thesis is available online at the University of Sydney. The link is http://ses.library.usyd.edu.au/bitstream/2123/3899/1/makeham-thesis-2008.pdf
The subject is patient safety in primary care, the Threats to Australian Patient Safety (TAPS) study. We collected results on both age of the doctors reporting errors, the age of the patients in the event reported, and classified the error type.
Practitioner age is discussed chapter 4.3.2
Patient age is discussed in chapter 4.11.3
Some of these findings are also published in the following two papers:
Makeham, MAB, Stromer, S, Bridges-Webb, C, Mira, M, Saltman, D, Cooper, C, Kidd, M. Patient safety events reported in general practice: a taxonomy. Quality & safety in health care. 2008; 17:53-7
Makeham MAB, Kidd M, Saltman D, Mira M, Bridges-Webb C, Cooper C, Stromer S. The Threats to Australian Patient Safety (TAPS) study: incidence of reported errors in general practice. The Medical journal of Australia. 2006; 185:95-98.
Best wishes, Meredith Makeham
