Subject: Re: [IMPROVEDX] Simulator programs for medical training

There is a fair amount of research related to simulation training in the nursing literature and the results are positive. The Brigham and Women's Hospital has a simulation program for residents in Emergency Medicine and will often include medical students in the exercises. In speaking with the director of this program, he has seen excellent translation to practice.

Does anyone know if progress is being made in Medical Training in any of the Medical Schools in the world with Simulator programs/research similar to how the airline industry trains its pilots? I feel very strongly that repetition is the way to go with Medical Education and simulation programs could provide that in an acceptable way.

I seem to remember that some simulator research was going on at one of the Boston Teaching Facilities.

Is anything going on in the rest of the world?

Would welcome thoughts and information on this.
