Magic and error

Could not agree more, Kimberly. Humility is the natural response when you put our fallible humanity in opposition to the daunting task of practicing medicine.

As I often like to point out, humility is not the same as humiliation, it is simply the rational recognition of the human condition. We practice in an environment of extremely high uncertainty, and yet we rarely have the luxury of inaction. So we frequently err.

All the best,

Mark and list members,

I might also suggest that not only is context important (our own point of view), but a sense of humility is as well. We must be open to lifelong learning from each other.

Kimberly
