Congratulations to SIDM member Dr Hardeep Singh on receiving the VA’s prestigious “Health Service Impact Award” for his large body of work on diagnostic error. Dr Singh’s research on the incidence of diagnostic error was the basis for the IOM conclusion that “each of us is likely to experience one or more diagnostic errors in our lifetime”, he has pioneered the use of trigger tools to find diagnostic errors, and his work with Dean Sittig on improving the safe use of health IT is now having national impact through the ONC Safer Guides https://www.healthit.gov/safer/safer-guides <https://www.healthit.gov/safer/safer-guides>

I’ve attached two articles from Hardeep and his group for those who aren’t familiar with his contributions.
