Thousands of vets misdiagnosed in Veterans Affairs traumatic brain injury exam mishap - WXYZ.com

In my response to Mark Graber, I will state my bias as someone who
specialized in working with tbi patients clinically for several
years before shifting my focus.

Mark, perhaps the link you clicked to read the story was faulty? Perhaps it
took you to another story? When I clicked on the link that Helene provided,
the story to which it took me was exactly as the headline portrayed it and
also as Helene described it. The story spoke specifically to botched
examinations due to the fact that they were conducted by clinicians who
were not adequately trained to recognize tbi. Thousands of veterans were
denied needed benefits as the result. I saw nothing in the posted story
about advances that have been made in understanding tbi, nor about the VA
working diligently to do the right thing by veterans. From my own clinical
experience, I am well aware that advances have been made in the field;
however, the article did not discuss that at all. Neither did the video.

Do you have a link to a different story that references the issue Helene
posted, and also discusses the information you have provided? I would
appreciate being able to balance my knowledge of this story by reading such
an article.

Warmest Regards--

Amy

Ps... Thanks to Helene for posting the link and brining it to the group's
attention.
