Excessive resource utilization = an adverse safety event (JAMA)

A pair of articles (attached) has just been published in JAMA advancing the idea that over-utilization of resources (especially advanced imaging) is actually a patient-safety issue. I'm glad this idea is getting some traction at the national level!
The authors refer directly to the (original) IOM report as well.
