The American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) Visiting Scholars Program Invites Applications for 2017-2018 Class:

Focus on Physicians' Diagnostic Accuracy

The American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) Research and Education Foundation Visiting Scholars Program is pleased to announce that the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation will co-sponsor a Visiting Scholar during the coming year, creating special project opportunities.
In partnership with the Moore Foundation, the ABMS Visiting Scholars Program seeks applications for projects that explore ways to improve physicians' diagnostic accuracy. Projects may address, for example, use and interpretation of tests, clinical reasoning and use of health IT in the diagnostic process. Applications must be submitted on or before May 1, 2017.

The ABMS Visiting Scholars Program is a one-year, part-time professional development and scholarship opportunity for early career physicians, junior faculty, fellows, residents, and individuals holding advanced degrees in public health, health services research, and other relevant disciplines.

Visiting Scholars participate in ABMS conferences and events and meet with experts in professional assessment and education, health policy, and quality improvement, developing skills and relationships critical to their professional growth and success. Mentored by institutional leaders and members of the ABMS Member Boards Community, scholars conduct research (that may build on ongoing work) to advance improvement in physician assessment, certification, and patient care quality. Scholars are awarded a grant of $12,500 to support their projects and expenses associated with program participation.
