Remembrance of Larry Weed

It strikes me that this is all too typical in the medical world, i.e.,
that old data reported, inevitably based on still older data, can impede
the future of medicine. Old clinical trials, whose designs would never be
acceptable today, are used as the basis for decision-making, and with that,
the patient receives treatment based on decades-old data.

But it is not unusual for doctors to disregard new data, whether from
trials or guidelines in the treatment of patients, so how would you assess
the impact of this single report on decision support tools? Or was this
akin to a 'confirmatory' bias for those who were never going to attempt to
use decision support tools?
