Challenges of studying visual expertise

Some listserv readers may be interested in this new article on the challenges of studying visual expertise by Gengenfurtner & colleagues (attached).   Radiologists (and other experts in visual diagnosis: pathologists, dermatologists) have a low but non-negligible rate of diagnostic error that arises in part from problems accurately perceiving and recognizing what they are looking at, a problem that has been challenging to study and almost impossible to address.

Several articles in our recent DIAGNOSIS special issue on Radiology<https://tinyurl.com/yammh8ez> spoke about this as well.
