SIDM just celebrated our 10th annual Diagnostic Error in Medicine conference in Boston – over 400 highly-engaged individuals attended (a record !) from a dozen different countries. The conference program is available here<http://www.improvediagnosis.org/page/DEM_2017> and SIDM contributing members will be able to access all the presentations shortly.
At the SIDM business meeting we announced a new election process, transitioning to an approach used by many professional organizations: Going forward we will elect a new SIDM President every two years. It is a pleasure to announce <http://www.improvediagnosis.org/blogpost/950784/286835/David-Newman-Toker-Named-President-Elect-of-the-Society-to-Improve-Diagnosis-in-Medicine> David Newman-Toker as our first elected President, whose term will start next year at DEM 2018. I can’t think of someone more qualified to hand over the leadership reigns of the organization. David is a founding member of the SIDM board, has chaired DEM for 3 years, and chaired or co-chaired two of our committees, previously our Research Committee and currently our Policy Committee. David has helped shape the strategy and priorities for our organization, and is the perfect choice to help us move forward to improve awareness and focused action on behalf of patients.
Please join me in congratulating David on this important new role.
I’d also like to direct your attention to the just-issued SIDM annual report<http://www.improvediagnosis.org/2017annualreport>. The report showcases the many accomplishments of the past year and sets the stage for our future.
All the best,
