New report<http://www.connectedcarewatch.com/news/ehr-use-grows-so-do-ehr-related-malpractice-claims?mkt_tok=eyJpIjoiTVRJNU5UazFORGhsTldOaSIsInQiOiJKWFBkS0c1ZUdxMlQzd3VrWnU3Y2Fwc2J3ckVwUHRPQ1JhSzUwamNsMWdoR0N1UmtrcHROS01Pb1pYdm1cL3g3N25oSzlrYlJwMkJjMkp0OUJNO> from the Doctors Company (attached) shows that malpractice claims related to the use of electronic records are on the rise, and that diagnostic-related issues are common. In the ‘it had to happen sooner or later’ category – these include cases involving harm related to the copy-paste problem. Inappropriate use of copy-paste functionality, beyond its impact as an annoyance and a factor that destroys trust in the reliability of the medical record, is a clear and addressable danger.
