Relationships with other diagnostic endeavors

Many people in other industries or other callings make diagnoses all the time.
One could ask, are we learning from them, are they learning from us?
Just to illustrate. I was very impressed with a service call this AM to fix our clothes dryer and the use of the service person's many years of experience, ear, and a thermometer to sort out the problem.
One could also think of:
Veterinarians and their diagnostic challenges
The atomic energy industry
Small particle physics
Computers and almost anything electronic
Engines of many kinds
Medical research - how to get to the answer/solution quicker
Weather forecasting services
Identifying Media truth and fake news
I suspect that this has been thought about before. But is it worthwhile to explore other relationships and synergies not yet considered?
If it has not already been done would a national meeting of interested parties be worthwhile.?
