Two interesting opportunities that we'd thought we share with our listserv community:
1. Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute has a number of advisory panels that are seeking nominations<https://www.pcori.org/engagement/engage-us/pcoris-advisory-panels/advisory-panel-openings?utm_source=Correction%3A+PCORI+Advisory+Panel+Nomination+Deadline&utm_campaign=01%2F03%2F18+AHRQ+systematic+reviews%2Fbest+of+2017&utm_medium=email>.
1. The American Board of Medical Specialties is seeking applicants<http://www.abms.org/about-abms/research-and-education-foundation/visiting-scholars-program/> for their visiting scholar program - "a one-year, part-time program that is intended to provide exposure to the fields of professional assessment, quality improvement (QI), and regulatory policy while promoting research and scholarship in areas related to Board Certification and Continuing Certification." There is a webinar<https://abms.webex.com/mw3200/mywebex/default.do?service=1&siteurl=abms&nomenu=true&main_url=%2Fmc3200%2Fe.do%3Fsiteurl%3Dabms%26AT%3DMI%26EventID%3D630307252%26UID%3D0%26Host%3DQUhTSwAAAARaAdRddHz5FRI0Sa-ZQqSO_dZ-ntvxP52CzDb_we5pCUM8wGt03H4YxQIrr7899IVYd1_KJZeLpmnuWtEipMx-0%26RG%3D1%26FrameSet%3D2%26RGID%3Dr8e68faae2ae0d16963b123fd3edbf9c8> about the program on March 27.
Who should apply -"The Visiting Scholars Program is open to early career physicians, junior faculty, fellows, residents, and individuals holding Master's or Doctorate degrees in public health, health services research, and public health policy and administration, or other related disciplines. Applicants should have a project that is ongoing or ready to begin and a designated institutional mentor to help guide their work. The project may build on existing research at the applicant's institution. Potential areas of research include: QI in patient care; organizational or systems improvement; continuing professional development; assessment of knowledge, judgment and skills; professionalism; systems-based practice; patient safety/harm reduction; milestones, and physician-patient communication."
