Does gender matter in Dx error?

Great article by journalist Doreen Carvajal about her incurable
peritoneal cancer that was cured. Her daughter asks the question if she'll
ever see a male doctor again. What are the statistics on this? Do female
doctors care for female patients better than male doctors do?
Interestingly, my experience hasn't borne this out. Right now -- in my
personal and my family's multiple dx error history -- we're about even.

"Male doctors said my ‘female’ cancer was incurable. Then a woman took
command and gave me hope"
