Under-diagnosis and under-treatment of hyperparathyroidism

Unfortunately, this study was based solely on electronic data, there was no chart review. Therefore, we do not know the reasons for the “under-diagnosis” and “under-treatment.” In the interpretation of the results, this is an important omission.

Very interesting study of how primary hyperparathyroidism was both under-diagnosed (only minority of patients with hypercalcemia had PTH measured) and under-treated - curative surgery for significant illness often not done.
